Pvc Sanitary Pipe Fittings
A lot of value would be added to Inventor with the addition of a sanitary pipe fittings library to the content center. Additionally a pipe routing.
A sanitary clamp, also called a sanitary fitting, is used to seal two ferrules together quickly, securely and without creating sites where contamination can collect or that can harbor bacteria. Fast connections are important in pharmaceutical and biotech applications, in which pipe and tube connections are frequently disassembled for cleaning and equipment reconfiguration. A reliable leak-free connection is imperative to meet FDA requirements for sterile process control. Often sanitary clamps must perform at high pressure and temperature. Designed for pressure vessels, filter housings and other applications. It meets the requirements of ASME section VIII Appendix 24 of the Pressure Vessel Code. All components of the ASME Clamp are made from fully traceable 316 stainless steel.
Material: 316 stainless steel (all parts traceable). Sizes: 1 to 12 inches. Pressure: up to 2,480 psig.
Temperature: 450 degrees F and higher. Bolt: triple. Hinge: for ease of assembly. Fastener: wing nut or hex nut. Standards: ASME Section VIII Appendix 24. The Safety Clamp protects workers by assuring the bolting mechanism cannot release suddenly while a worker is loosening the bolt.
Releasing the Safety Clamp is only possible when the wing-nut has been significantly loosened to enable the smaller diameter of the bolt to swing through the sectioned gate, ensuring the Safety Clamp cannot be knocked or accidentally opened. Material: 316 stainless steel. Sizes: 1/2 to 12 inches. Pressure: up to 870 psig. Temperature: 450 degrees F and higher. Bolt: safety feature prevents unintentional opening. Hinge: 2 pin.
Fastener: wing nut or hex nut. Standards: CE. TCI ClampConnect™ virtually eliminates the dead space associated with a standard ferrule. Using a standard sanitary clamp connection, the TCI ClampConnect can be used with sight glasses, lights, instrumentation, rupture discs in pharmaceutical and biotech processes. Material: 316 stainless steel (other nickel alloys available).
Sizes: 1/2 to 8 inches. Pressure: up to 100 psig. Temperature: 400 degrees F and higher. Clamp: accepts any standard sanitary clamp. Standards: ASME VIII Division 2, Mandatory Appendix 2. Virtually immune to degradation by commonly used CIP/SIP chemicals.

Non-elastomeric sanitary-design gaskets are based on proprietary GYLON modified PTFE technology and are compatible with a wide variety of chemicals and processing applications. BIO-LOK™ gaskets are designed to not deform into the process flow stream, which could otherwise create areas where harmful bacteria could accumulate. Production date code traceability. Material: modified PTFE. Size: ½ to 4 inches.
Temperature: 41°F to 356°F. Pressure: up to 800 psig. Standards: FDA, USP Class VI, DIN, ISO, BS, ASME-BPE, SMS. Clamps may fasten with a single bolt, having double pin hinges on the other side, or they may fasten with bolts on each sides (no hinge).
Clamps required for certain high pressure ASME applications have three bolts, including a bolt on the hinge side. Other manufactures may offer clamps with a single pin hinge. We believe that two-pin types provide a more sturdy and even clamping force. In situations where ferrules from different manufacturers need to be mated, L.J. Star’s Advanced Coupling clamp has been designed to provide an efficient, leak-proof connection.
The unique profile design pushes the ferrules into proper alignment with high clamping efficiency, reducing the chance of a failed connection. The clamp is tightened by screwing the fastener. Up to eight wing nut and hex nut fasteners are available, depending on the clamp type.
An optional spring loaded dome nut keeps tension on the gasket during expansion and contractions of the ferrules due to temperature fluctuations. For high pressure steam and similar applications, a safety clamp is available with a feature that prevents the sudden release of the clamp when the fastener backs off from vibration or expansion or contraction from temperature fluctuations. The same clamp is also available with a shroud that can accommodate a lockout padlock preventing access by unauthorized personnel. A beveled surface on the outside diameter of the ferrule mates with the inside diameter of the clamp. Tightening the clamp pulls the two ferrules together and creates a seal.

Therefore, the size of the clamp is based on the size of the ferrules that it is mating. Sizes typically range from ½” to 12” for tubing and 4” to 12” for pipe. Sizes and dimensions are standardized by ASME BPE.
Note that the outside diameter of the flange is the same for 1/2” and 3/4” fittings, as well as for 1” and 1-1/2” fittings. Therefore, measure the outside diameter of the tubing, not the flange, when sizing gaskets.
