For those searching the answer 'How to replace/repair Creative Inspire 5300 volume control': Its simple: looking at the back of the suboofer, the pins are as follows from top right, clockwise: LED VDD, Balance pot middle leg, GND, pots + legs, Volume pot middle leg, on switch input. Connect one pots ends to GND and the other ends to pots +, connect a switch on GND and on switch input, anode of led to LED VDD, cathode to GND (there is a 1,8k resistor inside so no external resistor needed) Posted on Jul 27, 2012. The system uses voltage controlled amplifiers for both volume and balance, so the only problem to use without remote is balance which needs 5 volts to be centered (if I remember correctly it uses 10 volts for the pots), so a solution is two 5k resistors tied to Vdd and GND and the center tied to balance input. For volume - 10 volts can directly be connected.

Of course it will be on max volume. 'Power on' should be tied to GND to run internal power supplies. Actually I bought my speakers without power supply and remote for 20Euro without knowing that they need remote. Then I opened the box and found how it works:) The system uses voltage controlled amplifiers for both volume and balance, so the only problem to use without remote is balance which needs 5 volts to be centered (if I remember correctly it uses 10 volts for the pots), so a solution is two 5k resistors tied to Vdd and GND and the center tied to balance input. Doing this (shorting power to ground, and the Vcc to Volume) will work for only front speakers at full volume. You will need to use a 'pot' (potentiometer; a.k.a. Variable resistor) to set balance or use a couple of resistors to create a voltage division. This should not be very hard to do, except you will need a minimum of 3 resistors; not 2 like the other posts suggest) Doing this (shorting power to ground, and the Vcc to Volume) will work for only front speakers at full volume.

Radio Shack may have the adapter, check them out.

You will need to be observant when locating the proper colored wire corresponding with each pin. Two ways to do this and all require a soldering iron. Either split or open the cover on the 9 pin male adapter and expose the wires going to each pin. Identify the colors and pin numbers and draw a diagram on paper to keep for reattaching the wires later on. Cut 1/4 of the insulation back from the end of each wire and tin the wires.

In short, hold the solder to the wire ends and heat with the iron so a flow of solder runs along the bare wire. Make certain to put a connector cover onto the wires prior to soldering each wire in place on the pin end. Simply set the correct colored wire end in the proper pin number, hold the iron to the pin back end and allow the wire to affix itself. Do this with all wires. If you do not have 9 wires, that is not unusual, just do the procedure with what wires are available.

If you cannot get the outer jacket off of the current 9 pin connecter, then you will need a Volt/Amp meter. Here you simply cut the wire approximately 1/2 to 2/4 Inch back from the cable 9 pin adapter, and locate the pin that corresponds to the colored wire. Using the RESISTANCE part of a meter, when you touch the two probes together the needle moves on the scale. Touch one end to a pin and try each colored wire end until you see the movement on the scale. Now you know what color corresponds with each pin. Solder each colored wire as mentioned above.

Dec 15, 2013. If we're talking about the microphone cable wiring on a low impedance mic remember this. Cheap mic cables with XLR's on both ends often have no standard color code to follow. True pin 1 is ALWAYS ground (shield wire) but the other two wires could be any color of the rainbow. Look for small numbers beside each pin of the XLR connector and make sure that pin two on one end of your cable, is also pin two on the other end as well.etc. Special note: The XLR connectors set screws have reversed threads and it's the same for the XLR male plug in the bottom of the microphone as well.Glen Dec 24, 2008. Hi sjcrofts, The most common problem for most people is knowing what wire color is positive & which wire color is negative.

The colors blue, red, green, light blue, light red & light green are normally positive. The color white & black are negative. Your board uses only 2-pin connectors.

The 3-pin power connector can be turned into a 2-pin connector to work with the M848ALU pins. (Page 13, PANEL1). Take the three pin connector, on the back side of the connector you'll see a small tab that holds the wire into the connector. Use a needle & pull tab up while pulling the wire out at the same time.

The wire should slide out. Insert the wire back into the connector next to the other wire. You do not need to hook up the SUS led which stands for suspend. Pin 1 is positive & the manual shows this by adding the P = positive. Pin 3 which is to the right of pin 1, is negative for the hard drive led. Pins 9 & 10 are not used.

Good luck sjcrofts! Mike Nov 30, 2008.

Dell (Altec Lansing) A425 Subwoofer Pinouts This is a standard female DB-9 serial port. Here are the pinouts. Pin 1 = Left Speaker Out + Pin 2 = Left Speaker Out - (Common Ground) Pin 3 = Left Line In + Pin 4 = Right Line In + Pin 5 = Left/Right line In - (Common Ground) Pin 6 = Right Speaker Out + Pin 7 = Right Speaker Out - (Common Ground) Pin 8 = Power A Pin 9 = Power B Jumper (short) Power A to B to turn on. If you want a volume control you need to put one on the inputs. You will buy buy a stereo volume control or potentiometer. Here is some info on how to do this.
